InNoWest - Just do it! Sustainable and digital together in North-West Brandenburg
The three partners in the InNoWest project are Eberswalde University for Sustainable Development (HNEE), the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam (FHP) and the Brandenburg University of Applied Sciences (THB). Together with regional stakeholders from politics, administration, municipalities, small and medium-sized enterprises (KMU) and the Federal Agency for Civic Eduacation, transfer projects are designed and realised for the project region. InNoWest understands transfer as a mutual exchange in which the participants from practice and science bring together their strengths and resources in order to jointly develop solutions for specific issues. This creates significant impetus for shaping regional transformation processes in a sustainable and digital way.

Project region
The focus is on the sustainable development of the North-West Brandenburg region. An area that is caught between urban and rural areas. Geographically speaking, our region is located between the metropolises of Berlin and Hamburg. It combines diverse spaces and framework conditions and offers great opportunities - but it also faces structural challenges.
Goals of InNoWest
We implement projects together with local people. These projects aim to improve the quality of life and promote sustainable regional development. We focus on three thematic areas: Digitalisation, conversion and participation. Our three thematic teams work on these topics together with our partners from politics and local authorities, small and medium-sized enterprises and civil society.
User-centred digitalisation (THB)
Together with representatives of local authorities and municipalities, the team develops projects that utilise new technologies to address the individual challenges of a location or region. We bring all of our expertise to this process - ranging from classic IT, geo-information and sensor technology to data visualisation and urban development.
Future-orientated restructuring (HNEE)
Our vision is to develop Brandenburg into a resilient pioneer region with a greenhouse gas-neutral building stock. The team develops effective, demand-orientated strategies for the renovation, conversion and conversion of existing buildings. This is particularly important in a federal state that has a large, heterogeneous stock of old buildings with low energy standards.
Education for sustainable development and participation (FHP)
Our most important goal is to empower regional stakeholders from civil society, business and administration, as well as local citizens, to actively help shape a sustainable, digital future. After all, no one should feel passively at the mercy of social and technological developments, but rather use them to develop economic, technical and social innovations. Education for sustainable development (BNE) and participation provide good approaches to achieving this goal.
